Laura Porry Pastorel
You deserve to feel good. That's why I'm here.
Knowledge and passion
I chose this profession by choice and by passion, and it is with this passion, combined with skills and professionalism, that I take care of the people who come to my studio. I add to this a pinch of curiosity, which has led me to get to know contexts outside of Italy, where I have worked for years, and which have allowed me today to practise both in Italian and English.
Competence and flexibility
The aim of my work is to follow all those who come to me in a careful and professional manner. Psychological distress can occur at any time in our lives, but by turning to a serious professional, pain can be transformed into strength and a resource.
I work with all those who need to understand, cope with and/or prevent situations of difficulty, confusion, pain, anxiety and/or psychophysical suffering, be they children, adolescents, young adults, adults or the elderly.
Health and well-being should be a right for everyone and I work for that. Psychological suffering has always been stigmatised and not taken seriously in the past. Today we have more tools and we know how fundamental and serious everything is about psychological suffering.
My background
I have been a clinical psychologist since 2007, a degree obtained with honors from the LUMSA University in Rome, and a transcultural psychotherapist since 2011, a degree obtained at the Cecchini Pace Foundation in Milan with the grade of excellent. In 2009 I was licensed to use the EMDR technique of Level I and II for complex trauma in Milan.
In 2011 I graduated as a consultant sexologist with honors from the ISC Rome Institute of Clinical Sexology, and in 2016 I took a second degree in Forensic Psychiatry from the prestigious King s College London, a city where I lived and worked for five years.
In 2018 I specialized in human resources, personnel selection and work psychology at the Roman School of Work and Organizational Psychology.
In 2024, I received my master's degree in child and adolescent psychotherapy from the C.I.Ps.I.A. Institute in Rome. Since the same year, I have been a lecturer in Positive Psychology at CEA CAPA Study Abroad in Rome.
I have worked both in Italy and abroad in a clinical setting and in different contexts: public hospitals (NIHMP, San Camillo Forlanini, Cygnet), American University of Milan as a lecturer in two psychology courses, prisons in Rome and Milan, NHS National Health Service in the UK in counselling centres for adolescent children and families and in PICU psychiatric hospitals, family homes and facilities for ex-soldiers with substance abuse and trauma problems.
My varied clinical experiences, combined with a solid theoretical knowledge, have formed me professionally and today I can work with children, adolescents and adults on an individual, couple and family level, both in Italian and English.
My therapeutic approach
Professionalism, preparation and flexibility characterise the way I work. The aim is to bring well-being by improving the quality of life of patients.
